Who this journey is for
Choose this journey if you value cultural context and landscape changes more than collecting the largest possible number of sights.
It works best for travelers comfortable with a one-way route, several hotel bases, and a gradual rise from Dali and Lijiang to Shangri-La.
It is less suitable if high altitude must be avoided entirely or if southern Yunnan, Meili Snow Mountain, and the northwest highlands all need to fit into one week.

Overnight: DaliExplore Bai architecture, local markets, Xizhou, and the landscape around Erhai. The day is paced around your interests rather than a fixed sightseeing circuit.
Overnight: DaliDrive north through the Tea Horse Road country. Pause in Shaxi for its market square and lanes before continuing to a calm base outside Lijiang's busiest streets.
Overnight: LijiangChoose the mountain experience that suits the day's visibility, altitude comfort, and crowd levels, then return through Baisha or Shuhe for a quieter cultural stop.

Ways to personalise the journey
Add Yuanyang and Jianshui for rice terraces and historic architecture, or continue toward Pu'er and Xishuangbanna for tea landscapes and tropical nature. Meili Snow Mountain belongs in a longer specialist route, not a rushed seven-day circuit.
March to June brings comfortable temperatures and clearer mountain days, with changing conditions at higher altitude.
September to November is often the strongest balance of visibility, color, and comfortable walking weather.
Shangri-La requires a lighter first day. The route builds elevation gradually and keeps weather alternatives ready.
Explore before you decide
A fourteen-day private Yunnan journey that gives Dali, Lijiang, Shangri-La, Meili Snow Mountain, and Tengchong the time they need.
Questions
Yes. The seven-day spine stays geographically coherent, while hotel style, walking level, guide time, and extra nights can change. Southern Yunnan, Tengchong, or Meili Snow Mountain should be added as distinct extensions rather than squeezed into the same week.
Yes. A private journey can be designed for one traveler. Your personal quotation reflects the route, room, vehicle, guide, and service arrangements for your actual party.
Most transfers take roughly two to four hours, with a longer day through Tiger Leaping Gorge toward Shangri-La. Shaxi breaks the Dali-to-Lijiang direction so the route does not become a sequence of rushed road days.
The route gains altitude gradually through Dali and Lijiang before reaching Shangri-La above 3,000 meters. We keep the first highland evening light and adapt mountain activity to your comfort, but travelers with medical concerns should seek personal medical advice before booking.
March to June and September to November are the broad planning windows. The strongest choice depends on whether you value spring color, autumn visibility, warmer walking conditions, or a specific mountain experience; highland weather can still change quickly.
Your proposal confirms the selected area, available property, room category, access considerations, and any best-suitable remote-region night before you approve the journey.
Your personal proposal shows the complete quotation, agreed services, inclusions, exclusions, and confirmation notes. Booking and cancellation terms are then stated clearly in the written agreement for your journey.
